Apple Wants To Take Control Of iPhone5.com

Apple has submitted an application to the Copyright Organization WIPO and requested ownership of the domain name iphone5.com.

According to technology blog Fusible left Apple last week a request to the UN’s collecting society, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). In its application, Apple has requested ownership of the domain name iphone5.com.

It is unknown who currently owns the domain name as it is hidden, but the site using the domain name is a forum that discusses the topic “iPhone 5″.

Apple has previously purchased the domain name similar to its trademarks, however, it has usually occurred only after the product is released. The domain name iphone4.com bought by Apple for an unknown sum almost a year after the phone was released.

Apple gave earlier also submitted a complaint to WIPO for the domain name iphone4s.com, but it was only several months after the phone launched. The most recent application to WIPO is the first time Apple seeking to gain control of a domain name related to an iphone model before the product is released.

Rumor: The Same Sim Card In Next iPhone

Despite Apple’s pressure to create a new standard for even smaller sim card it seems that the next model of iPhone will have the same card as today.

Apple engineers are doing their best to shrink all parts of the iPhone except the screen. One of the components that still takes up relatively little space is sim-card, which has led to that Apple has proposed a new standard called nano-sim. Nokia has proposed a competing standard, and so far, no decisions of Standards Committees are not taken.

According to Macrumors, it seems that Apple is not waiting for such decisions without building the next iPhone with the same sim card standard that the iPhone 4S.

Information is derived from a Chinese component store that has begun selling a new sim card holder that is different from today but said to be for the iPhone. This is the second component of “iPhone 5″ which appeared on the net - last week sent pictures of what is said to be the new home button around the rumor sites.

For those who have a jailbroken iDevice is certainly not the WinterBoard completely unknown. This program is an important source of, for example, to change themes or modify certain sounds. Now, this program has received a major update, which is about time.

Winter Board may be a necessity when it comes to installing different themes, but it has also been a lot of problems as the speed and stability. Jailbreak related programs have sometimes crashed because of the Winter Board and that it is full of bugs. This has led to several users jailbreak avoiding installing Winter board on its iDevice. Perhaps this major update get many users to consider about when it comes to winter board.

Saurik, for many known as the mastermind behind Cydia, released yesterday, the updated verisionen now called Winter Board0.9.3904 and contains the following updates and bug fixes:

■5.x: Last Ditch kill -KILL Respring
■4+5: HTML Wallpaper Multi-Touch

Let’s hope this leads to the Winter Board works better to our iDevice.

Max Payne Released

Rockstar Games has released the classic action game Max Payne in a version for Apple’s mobile platform.

For those of you who perchance not know the game already, itbriefly about a cop named Max Payne who one day finds his familymurdered. Max decides to locate the killers, leading to a bloodbathof seldom seen.

This is how the game look:

System requirement for Max Payne Mobile is an iPad, iPhone(3GS/4/4S) or iPod Touch (3rd and 4th generation) with version 4.2or later of the embedded software.

Note that the game is quite large, 1.11 gigabytes.

Next iPhone May Have Unibody Shell

Next iPhone will probably be released in October, just like the iPhone 4S, and can get a whole new look.

According to a personnel manager at Foxconn, Apple has placed an order for production of the next iPhone with a view to launch in October, writes Kotaku who have translated an article from a South Korean newspaper.

Meanwhile, a (rather loose) reputation on what Apple may haveplans for the new model. Most expect probably 4G support, perhapseven in Europe, and of course a newer processor, but in addition it has been rather short on information.

Now it’s Brian White, analyst at the Topeka Capital Markets, who has been visiting several suppliers to Apple, and claim that they have started receiving orders for components to be manufacturedstarting in June and thus fits well with a launch during the fall .

White also claims that Apple for the first time will do the screen of the iPhone larger, and that the new phone will be even thinner andtherefore will have a unibody Macbook shell-like, to make it managethat to be so thin yet rigid and durable.

As always, take rumors coming from analysts with an extra largegrain of salt.

100 Reasons To Jailbreak An iPhone

Although there are hundreds of thousands of third-party applicationson the App Store, there are some things Apple for some reason do not want us to do with our iDevices. Those who wish can, however,”jailbreak” their device, which provides access to the alternative programs store Cydia.

The following movies are listed 100 reasons to jailbreak an iPhone or iPod Touch:

Apple Has Worked on a Physical Game Controller for iPhone

In Anandtech’s lengthy iPad review, they reveal knowledge of an internal Apple project for a game controller for iOS:

I know of an internal Apple project to bring a physical controller to market, but whether or not it will ever see the light of day remains to be seen. As smartphones and tablets come close to equalling the performance of current game consoles, I feel like the controller problem must be addressed.

Apple is not the first company to considering such a device for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Several 3rd party companies have worked on similar devices over the years. iControlPad one of the first and is now provided.
Ion Audio’s has iCade follow-up (pictured above) also allows users to attach their iOS device within a control unit that provides physical buttons and controls.
Apple has also applied for a patent on a similar design.

These 3rd party solutions are generally relegated to the keyboard emulation via Bluetooth instead of full-fledged bridge-supportaccessories. In fact, we had heard that Apple originally supported these accessories makers in their quest to make official, however, plug game controllers, but the approval process mysteriously stopped.
Some had speculated about time that Apple was working on his own game controller solution. We’ve heard little else about this, butAtari’s recently announced Arcade Joystick doing now uses the dock connector.

How to get camera lock screen without updating to iOS 5.1

The latest iOS version 5.1 bought several improvements to the users who decided to upgrade. One of such enhanced features is permanently displaying a camera icon that reacts to a swipe up gesture, which eliminates the need to double tap the Home button on the lockscreen to display a camera shortcut button.
However not every iPhone user is able to make use of the features iOS 5.1 boasts with, especially the jailbroken ones who are obviously staying away from the latest iOS update due to the fact that no stable andcomplete jailbreak is available for that particular version of the firmware yet. However jailbreak fans need not worry no more, as Camera Grabber for iOS 5 has recently been released, making the quick camera access available to iPhone 4, 4S, 3GS and iPod touch 4G running on iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1 ; without the iOS5.1 update requirement!
Once you install the app you’ll notice that the slide to unlock bar is significantly shortened and a grabber type camera button is displayed, which is then invoked by sliding vertically. One more good thing to know is that the tweak is quite a good implementation of the official update by Apple as it even considers the passcode rules, so if the passcode is activated no one will be able to gain access to the Camera Roll without entering the codeproperly.
Obviously you need to jailbreak your device to install this tweak. Camera Grabber is available to download from big Boss Repository completely for free! The thing to note is that Camera Grabber does not install any additional SpringBoard icons and no dedicated preferences entries are included.
